Surat had first surgeon practicing as Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr. Acharya, later on Dr. M M Pandya (FRCS) started practices in Orthopaedics followed by Dr. Shirish Desai.
SGOA is a brain child of Dr. Satish Patel, Dr. Ajay Patel, Dr. Amrut Jogia and Dr. Dayanidhi Desai.
It was decided to create an association in the name of SGOA for Ortho Surgeons from Bharuch to Vapi. Association has intentions to update knowledge of members by organizing various academic programmes and to improve brotherhood amongst the Orthopaedic Surgeons.
Founder Office Bearers were Dr. Shrikant Shah (President), Dr. Satish Patel (Secretary) and Dr. Nishith Shroff (Treasurer).
